October 2017 Fiber Update

Dunbarton Telephone is excited to announce that our fiber optic network continues to expand to more homes in Dunbarton.  This means more homes now have access to reliable, faster internet service, with internet download and upload speeds up to 100mbps available. We would like to take a moment to update you on some of the specific details of our progress.

First, we have recently completed fiber upgrades to homes on Armand’s Way, and to some homes on Twist Hill Rd., as well.  Upgrades will be scheduled for the rest of the Twist Hill Rd. neighborhood soon.

Second, fiber upgrades are also taking place in the Gorham Pond Rd. neighborhood.  This includes homes on the following streets:

·         Gorham Pond Rd.

·         Gorham Dr.

·         Holiday Shore Dr.

·         Gary Rd.

·         Stephanie Rd.

·         Karen Rd. 

In addition, New Optical Network Terminal (ONT) boxes have been mounted to the exterior of homes in the area.  If you live in the Gorham Pond Rd. neighborhood, please call our office at 774-9911, to schedule an appointment to have the telephone and internet service in your home upgraded to fiber optics.

Third, engineering has been completed for our next phase of fiber upgrades, south of Dunbarton Center.  A contractor has been hired to run fiber optic cable for this portion of the project and will begin working this fall.  Up to 300 customers will be upgraded to fiber during this next phase.

Finally, engineering has also begun to bring fiber technology to the remainder of our exchange.  This final phase of fiber upgrades will hopefully begin in late 2018.

May 2017 Fiber Project Update

As Dunbarton Telephone Company continues working to provide a 100% fiber optic network, we would like to update you on our current progress.

First, in the Gorham Pond Rd area, we have installed fiber cable on poles and are currently splicing the cable. Dunbarton Telephone Company will be contacting customers in the area soon to start scheduling installations.

Second, we have hired Tel-Power Inc. to run fiber optic cable in the Twist Hill Rd area. This work will be starting very soon. Homes on Armand’s Way are slated to be upgraded sometime during the summer months. Fiber upgrades to homes on Twist Hill Rd, Ordway Rd, Purgatory Pond Rd, and Morse Rd will follow.

Finally, engineering is taking place for the next phase of fiber upgrades south of Dunbarton Center. We will continue to share updates as they are available. Please call our office with any questions you may have at 774-9911.

February 2017 Fiber Project Update

Exciting news about faster internet speeds coming to Dunbarton!

Dunbarton Telephone is pleased to announce that we have been approved for a government loan that will enable us to transition our service area to a 100% fiber optic network.   Loan documents have recently been signed, allowing the advancement of funds, so we can progress towards bringing faster internet speeds to all of our customers.  This network upgrade will bring increased internet download & upload speeds of up to 100 mbps to homes in Dunbarton and the rest of our service area.  We have also contracted with an engineering company that is assisting in the planning and implementation of this project. 

While we take the necessary steps to move forward with this project in 2017, we continue to upgrade homes in Dunbarton to fiber.  This is currently taking place on Barnard Hill Rd. and Stark Hwy North, as far up as Burnham Lane.  We also have a crew ready to continue working to bring fiber to the Gorham Pond Rd. area, once we receive a shipment of more fiber optic cable.
